The scales are commonly played using rest stroke for a more powerful, deeper
tone and always without slurs until possibly m12.

For the arpeggio section beginning with the direction "moins", I have included
some left hand fingerings. The movement is primarily parallel, that is, the
hand keeps the same shape up and down the neck. The trickiest part would be m19

Use 4 as a guide finger. Just before the shift, lift 2 and 3, then once 4
shifts plant 3 and 2 in succession as each is prepared to play. It may take
some practice, but the execution produces a smooth melodic line. Also for
the melody in this section, play using rest stroke with the "a" finger where
ever possible. This helps bring the melody out over the arpeggio accompaniment.
The melody switches to the bass starting in mm 22. Use a lot of even vibrato.
Vibrato is often executed in triplets; in a situation like this you end with a
3 against 4 pattern, a rather complicated sycopation for most guitarists, but
it shouldn't take up too much practice time to figure it out. The dynamic
shading is a more complicated subject to discuss. Just listen for tension and
resolution, and changes in mood. Manuel Barrueco's recording of this is a
perfect place to start.

Beginning at measure 46, the notes are all hammer-ons and pull-offs and
should be played as fast and intensely as possible. The number of H.O.'s
and P.O.'s indicated are approximate.
All the recordings I've heard, the repeat isn't taken and instead goes on
to 2nd ending, however the 1953 Max Eschig edition, from which this is
taken, includes the repeat.
