my ranting:

hello, you've found my latest tab (of course i could write
that in every one, couldn't i?), 26th of February 2001.
this time i have decided not to include left hand fingering,
because i feel this - although very useful in standard
musical notation - is not so appropriate in tablature.
however, i realise more and more these days how important
it is to try to include a sense of timing into a tab, so i
have been very careful with the beat counts in 4/4 above the
tab. proper description of musical timing is something
tablature seriously lacks, but i think i've done well with
this song.

this is a fantastic calypso song for two guitars, and the
only recording i have is played as a duet of a steel string
guitar and a classical guitar! this is a combination of
instuments which i have rarely heard done well, but tommy
emmanuel and slava grigoryan performed it beautifully. get
your hands on their recording if you can, and by the way they
use their own intro and outro for the piece.

transcribed here is the lead, which is played by slava in the
aforementioned recording. the second guitar is basically just
strumming of the chord progression noted above the tab, but
i will also tab the second guitar when/if david sends me the
sheet.

if you plan on accompanying the lead / performing this piece
as a duet then you will need a good understanding of chord
theory to get the best sounds out of the chord progressions.
if you are newer to guitar and have not learnt chord theory,
i should inform you that it will be a most valuable asset to
you as a guitarist. if you can't presently make any sense of,
say, Abo7, then let me direct you to a good and simple page
for learning guitar theory, the pages are written by a friendly
guy who plays guitar - and not by some strict & formal music
professor with more degrees than you can poke a stick at.

btw, Abo7 is an A flat diminished seventh, try [xx6767]

[now you enter the solos... the rhythm guitar now takes the lead and
the lead guitarist should pick a sufficiently groovy strumming pattern
and play these chords. an ellipsis just means to keep playing previous
chord - and four ..err.. bits makes one bar. so each line in the
following progressions measures two bars.]

okay, first solo here:

 Am7 ... ... ... D9 ... ... ...

Gmaj7 ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Gmaj7 ... ... ... Dm7 ... G9 ...

Gmaj7 ... ... ... Abo7 ... ... ...

[now swap leads, so both players get a minute to improvise. this
chord progression is identical to the above one expect it terminates
differently.]
